Wireless site survey and floor-plan review
We start with the fit-out drawing and a walk of the floor: partition materials, ceiling type, core and riser positions, seating density and where the comms room sits. That gives a coverage plan tied to the real space rather than a generic access point count.
Access point placement
Access points are positioned for coverage and capacity together, allowing for glass, plasterboard and concrete, and for the cable runs that have to reach them. Placement is coordinated with the cabling scope so PoE runs are installed before ceilings close.
High-density areas and meeting rooms
Training rooms, boardrooms, open operations floors and contact-centre seating need capacity planning, not just signal. We plan for concurrent devices and video traffic in those areas specifically.
Channel and power tuning
Channels, widths and transmit power are tuned for the floor and for neighbouring tenants' networks, so access points complement rather than interfere with each other.
Roaming across the floor
Staff move between desks, meeting rooms and corridors while on calls. We configure the wireless so devices hand over between access points cleanly instead of holding on to a distant one.
Staff, guest and IoT separation
Separate networks for staff, visitors and devices such as printers, cameras and building equipment keep guest traffic away from business systems and stop one group of devices degrading another.
Cloud or controller management
The wireless is managed either from a cloud dashboard or an on-site controller, depending on the platform chosen and how your team or head office prefers to administer it. Configuration and access details are handed over to you.
Post-installation coverage and performance verification
After installation we verify coverage and performance across the floor, including meeting rooms and edge areas, and adjust placement, channels or power where the results call for it.
Integration with cabling, switching and internet connectivity
Wireless only performs as well as what sits behind it. We align the Wi-Fi design with the Network Cabling in Port City Colombo scope, the switching and PoE budget, and the dedicated internet or leased line serving the office.

- Do you carry out a wireless site survey before quoting?
- Yes. We review the floor plan and walk the site to check partition materials, ceilings, cores and cable routes before proposing access point positions and quantities.
- Can you separate guest Wi-Fi from the staff network?
- Yes. Staff, guest and device networks are separated so visitor traffic cannot reach business systems, with the guest network limited to internet access.
- Can TKWIT coordinate the Wi-Fi with the fit-out contractor and building management?
- Yes. Access point cabling and ceiling work are scheduled with the fit-out programme, and building access and working hours are agreed with building management.
